Mr. Steven Kline

Steve Kline grew up in Union City.  When he was nine years old he professed his desire to learn to fly.  He began in earnest to fly at age 16 when he started taking flying lessons at the Corry Airport.  He attained his Private Pilot’s license at age 17.  Steve graduated from Union City Area High School in 1976.  He went on to attend Penn State University Main Campus, and entered into Air Force ROTC.

 

After graduation from Penn State in 1980 he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He entered Air Force Flight School in Columbus, Mississippi in 1981.   He graduated top of his class and was awarded the trophy for Flying Excellence for attaining the highest flying grades and the Commanders Trophy for the best all-around pilot. 

After a year of basic pilot training, followed by 9 months of training in fighter tactics and survival schools, he arrived at the 59 Tac Fighter Squadron at Eglin AFB in late 1982.  While at Elgin he was a 4 Ship Flight leader, and won a 33rd Tac Fighter Wing top gun award.

His next assignment was to Holloman AFB in Alamogordo NM from 1985 to 1988 as a Fighter Lead-In Instructor flying the AT-38B in the 434th Tac Fighter Training Squadron.  While there he instructed the fundamentals of basic fighter maneuvers and ground attack. 

 

In 1988, Steve was hired by Delta Airlines and has been flying out of the Atlanta base for over 34 years to the present.  While at Delta he has flown DC-9, Lockheed L1011, and Boeing 727, 737, 757, 767, 777.  His duties have taken him all over the world, (with the exception of Antarctica). He is currently serving Delta as a Line Check Captain instructing and evaluating on the 767-400. 

 

Steve currently resides with his wife Janice of 24 years, in Navarre, Florida. They have two daughters, Katy and Anjolie.
