David Pituch

2008 Inductee

David Pituch was born and raised in Union City and was a member of the class of 1965. While in school he was active in basketball, track & field, chorus, band, national honor society, student council, debate team, and senior class president. Upon graduation David earned his Bachelor's degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Saxophone Performance, his Master's in Music from the University of Colorado, and his Doctorate's in Saxophone Performance from the Northwestern University School of Music.

David has taught saxophone and music classes at numerous schools and universities throughout the world including the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw Poland from 1980-1990. He has recorded 8 solo performances and performed solo at dozens of concerts and festivals around the world. David has instructed masters classes in saxophone in Austria, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, Finland, Portugal, as well as various classes throughout the United States and Canada.

He has written and delivered 7 major papers to various musical publications, has published books on saxophone playing, and has numerous personal musical compositions. He is a member of several ensembles including the Cracow Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic, and the Boston Pops. David has also held several administrative positions at schools and universities throughout the world.

His love for music has earned him 11 major awards for his research, teaching, and grant writing to help others enjoy the love of music. David's travels throughout the world have expanded his vocabulary also. He fluently speaks English, Polish, German, French, and Russian. We thank David for his joy of music and the work he has done to share it with the world. And we are proud to say he is a native of Union City.
