Major Daniel Toven

2008 Inductee

Major Daniel Toven was born and raised in Union City and is a member of the class of 1987. He was active in chorus and was the drum major for the Union City Marching Band. After graduation he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania earning his Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Trombone Performance.

Major Toven then attended the Eastern School of Music and earned his Master's Degree is Music Conducting. He enlisted in the United States Army and is currently stationed in Europe. He is the Associate Bandmaster and Conductor of the U.S. Army Europe Band.

His honors and achievements include: Officer Candidate School Distinguished Military Graduate and Benjamin Harrison Award as the top graduate of his Adjutant General Officer Basic Course. He has also earned several other Army Medals including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Service Defense Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. Major Toven has also been named executive officer of the U.S. Army Europe Band and Chorus.

Just this past spring, Union City was honored to welcome back Major Toven as the guest director of the regional chorus competition. We thank Major Toven for his many years of service to our country and the joy he has given those who love music and welcome him to the Wall of Achievement.
