Ronald “Steve” Jones

2018 Inductee

Ronald “Steve” Jones is a 1984 graduate of Union City High School. After his time at Union City, Steve attended Penn State University and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing in 1988. Steve then returned to his home town to join the family business, Ron Jones Hardwoods, and worked his way up to the president of the company in 2008, a role in which he still serves today.

Steve is successful in his business ventures due to the time and effort he puts into his education and craft. He was a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association Leadership Class of 1995, served as the Penn-York Lumberman’s Club President from 2001-2003, is a member of the Nation Hardwood Lumber Association Board of Directors, the American Hardwood Board of Directors, and the Manufacturers and Business Association Board of Governors. During his time as President of Ron Jones Hardwoods, Steve has overseen the exporting of goods to countries around the world, visiting areas like Dubai, China, and India to expand the horizons of his business ventures. His success in exporting products earned him recognition in 2015 as a Governors Impact Award Finalist for Exporting from the State of Pennsylvania.

Steve has not only become a successful business owner, but has served in several capacities to help our school, community, and youth programs. He was one of the founding members of the successful Union City Youth Wrestling Club, serving as its head coach from 2009-2013, and serving as the treasurer since 2014. He is a member of the Allegheny Health Network Board of Directors, Union City Municipal Authority Township Board, and was the First United Methodist Trustee and Chair of Church Building Renovations in 2003.

Perhaps Steve’s greatest accomplishment comes in the form of money raised and distributed to various Union City businesses and organizations. His business annually sponsors Union City Athletic programs each season of the sports year. He is currently a member of the Union City School District Foundation Board and Chairman of the Union City Community Foundation since 2010. Both organizations have funded major projects, business ventures, and charitable causes in the amount of hundreds of thousands of dollars, helping to support and bring life to ideas and dreams of individuals in the Union City community.

Steve currently resides in Union City with his wife Danielle. They have three children: Nathan, Isaac and Grace.
