Dr. William Young

2008 Inductee

Dr. William Young was the Superintendent of the Union City Area School District from 1970-1989. Dr. Young oversaw the planning, building, and construction of the current Elementary building, which was dedicated in 1974. Dr. Young was also responsible for seeking the grant and funds necessary for the construction of the Union City Swimming Pool Annex, which was completed in 1978. It was also during his tenure that the sports complex here at Union City, which includes the field you are looking at right now. Dr. Young also worked tirelessly at improving the academic and vocational standards here at Union City, which resulted in increased opportunities for success for both the students and faculty.

He was a member of the Union City Lion's Club, Union City Community Housing Association, and the Union City Country Club. Dr. Young attained his degrees from California University of Pennsylvania, Penn St. University, and the University of Missouri. Dr. Young currently resides in Lakewood, NY, with his wife Judy and enjoys spending his winter months in the bright sunshine of Florida.
