Yvonne Eastman

2011 Inductee

Yvonne Eastman was born in raised in Union City and is 1968 graduate of Union City High School. After graduation, Yvonne attended Edinboro University and earned her degree in Elementary Education in 1972.

Yvonne began her teaching career in the Erie School District teaching fourth grade for one and a half years before bringing her love of teaching here to Union City in 1977. Yvonne was dedicated to her profession and enjoyed interacting with the students. She always had compassion for her students and their families, wanting to help them in any way possible to allow her students succeed. Yvonne was always there for her students. Whether it was bringing in coats, hats, or gloves for those who needed them; or just sharing a smile and a hug. Yvonne also was extremely active in getting parents involved with the education of their child. Her nurturing and caring demeanor was a benefit to her students and colleagues alike. While she was teaching, Yvonne was active in the "Sunshine Committee," helping plan parties, luncheons, and dinners for those in need.

Yvonne was also active in the community. She led a Brownie Troop of 50 girls to make sure that the Brownie program in Union City remained intact. She is also involved in her church, serving on several committees and aiding in numerous activities.

Yvonne retired after 32 years of dedicated teaching service. Since that time she has been instrumental in getting boots and coats for students in need here at Union City. She also works part time at the Corry YMCA daycare, where she cares for the infants and babies. And like any good teacher, she even writes lesson plans for them! Yvonne also enjoys spending time with her mother, sister, and her two children; Shadd and Larah. She also like going to movies, eating out, and spending time with her friends. Thank you Yvonne for your dedication to the Union City School District and community.
